Terms of Reference

The Steering Committee

  • There will be at least four Steering Committee Meetings per calendar year for members to attend.
  • If a member of the Committee doesn’t attend three consecutive meetings without explanation, for reasons of continuity of involvement, they will be removed from the Steering Committee Membership.

Public Health Association

  • UK PHA is the recipient of the Health Challenge Wales Voluntary Sector Grant Scheme from the Welsh Assembly Government.
  • PHA Cymru is responsible for meeting the aims, targets, terms and conditions laid down in the agreement between UK PHA and the Welsh Assembly Government.
  • The initial tranche of the Health Challenge Wales Voluntary Sector Grant Scheme covers the period from April 2008 to March 2011.

The Role of the Steering Committee

Collectively the Committee Members will:

  • monitor the performance of meeting the commitments made in action plan between the Welsh Assembly Government and PHA Cymru;
  • make recommendations to PHA Cymru to ensure the effective delivery on the Wellbeing Wales Network action plan / strategy;
  • contribute to the evaluation of the Wellbeing Wales Network’s impact;
  • annually review the Wellbeing Wales Network Strategy
  • set the boundaries of the different sub committees’ activities in terms of objectives, resources, time and deadline;

Each Committee Member will endeavour to inform their ‘constituency’ or networks about wellbeing specifically and of the Wellbeing Wales Network’s activities generally.

Representation

The Steering Committee will be made up of representatives of the range of issues that make up the components of wellbeing* – broadly

  • physical and psychological wellbeing
  • environmental wellbeing
  • social and community wellbeing
  • economic and material wellbeing

*As defined as components of sustainable wellbeing used in Exploring Sustainable Wellbeing Toolkit.

The Role of the Sub Committees

  • The role and boundaries of the different sub committees’ activities in terms of objectives, resources, time and deadline will be established by the Steering Committee.
  • The Chair’s of each Sub Committee will be responsible for reporting back to the Steering Committee meetings.
