Wellbeing at Work

In Wales the average cost of sickness absence is £659 per employee per year a price paid by the employer. In other words, around 175 million working days were lost to illness in Britain in 2006, which is equivalent to seven days for each working person.

Employers can make a very important contribution to the health of the nation. Creating safe, healthy workplaces and encouraging individuals' well-being benefits everyone - employees are happier and better motivated, while businesses cut the costs associated with sickness, absence and injury.

The Welsh Government recognises the important role of businesses and other organisations in promoting individual well-being. It has developed a number of resources in order to do this.
